Covers Timber & Builders Merchants is offering a fully funded Driver Apprenticeship for people starting out or changing careers. Learn from industry experts, earn while you learn, and build a long‑term professional driving career

To get on the Driver Apprenticeship at Covers Timber and Builders Merchants, you’ve got to be pretty good behind the wheel. But we’re also just as interested in how driven you are. To really succeed, you have to grab every opportunity that comes your way. If you do, you’ll get some of the best people in the industry teaching you and be well on your way to starting a career as a professional driver

Your Journey

After your Induction Day at our Head Office, Chichester you will meet your assessor and complete all the paperwork to enrol you on your qualification

You will be assigned two Mentors: a Qualified driver who will teach you the technical side of the job and our Learning Development Manager who will answer any questions you have, look after your wellbeing and ensure that you are on track.

You will start your journey working in Yard as its important you understand the bigger picture.

Over the length of your apprenticeship programme, you’ll explore:

  • Our safety culture within branch

  • The products we sell and the services we provide

  • How to safely load/unload your vehicle

  • Category C driver training and attainment of your license

The Level 2 LGV Apprenticeship is a 12-month programme that not only supports you through your licence acquisition, but embeds the skills, knowledge and competences required to be a high performing professional driver.

Please note: Candidates must hold a clean Category B (Car) UK driving license and have held it for at least 12 months to be considered for this opportunity

In order to be enrolled onto our apprenticeship programme, as part of the pre-employment checks you will need to undergo a drivers medical in order to obtain your provisional Cat C licence.
