E-commerce Trading & Operations Manager

Head Office, Chichester | Full-Time | 40hpw

We are seeking a commercially driven Ecommerce Trading & Operations Manager to take ownership of day-to-day online trading performance. This role will be responsible for revenue delivery, promotions, pricing governance, supplier onboarding, and ensuring a smooth end-to-end customer journey.

This is a pivotal role focused on execution, optimisation, and performance delivery across multiple ecommerce sites.

Key Responsibilities

​

Trading Performance Ownership

  • Own weekly and monthly ecommerce revenue performance.

  • Monitor and optimise KPIs including conversion rate, AOV, traffic, margin, and basket mix.

  • Analyse trading trends and identify opportunities for uplift.

  • Deliver clear weekly trading reports and insights to the Head of Ecommerce.

 

Promotions & Commercial Planning

  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns in line with commercial objectives.

  • Coordinate promotional activity across product categories and customer segments.

  • Ensure promotional mechanics are correctly configured and commercially viable.

  • Evaluate promotional performance and ROI.

 

Pricing & Margin Monitoring

  • Work closely with Commercial and Buying teams to ensure pricing accuracy online.

  • Monitor margin performance and highlight risks or opportunities.

  • Support pricing strategy implementation across ecommerce channels.

  • Ensure pricing consistency between online and branch where required.

 

Supplier Onboarding to Ecommerce

  • Support the onboarding of new suppliers and product ranges to ecommerce.

  • Coordinate with the Product Data & Merchandising function to ensure product readiness.

  • Ensure supplier content, pricing, and availability are ecommerce-ready.

  • Identify opportunities to expand online range with key suppliers.

 

Customer Journey & Operational Issue Management

  • Monitor checkout performance and customer drop-off points.

  • Identify and resolve friction points in the online journey.

  • Work closely with IT, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve ecommerce-related issues.

  • Ensure stock, delivery messaging, and availability are accurately reflected online.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

  • Product Data & Merchandising on range performance

  • Digital Marketing on campaign alignment and landing page performance

  • Operations on fulfilment and delivery communication

  • Finance on margin and profitability tracking

  • Act as the operational bridge between ecommerce and the wider business.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in ecommerce trading, online merchandising, or ecommerce operations.

  • Strong commercial awareness with experience delivering revenue targets.

  • Confident working with data, reports, and performance analytics.

  • Experience managing promotions and pricing in an ecommerce environment.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, product-heavy environment.

  • Experience with Magento sites desirable

  • Experience within builders’ merchants, construction materials, B2B ecommerce, or complex physical product businesses is advantageous.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 08.00am to 17:00pm with one hour unpaid break for lunch
