ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
Chichester Depot | Full-Time | 37.5hpw
We require a versatile and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our Head office team in Chichester. The role covers multiple companies dealing with both residential and commercial properties. Prior experience working for companies who have a property portfolio is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities include:
1. Bookkeeping functions
a. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
b. Nominal ledger postings
c. Purchase ledger maintenance
d. Sales ledger maintenance
e. Nominal account reconciliations
f. Daily cashbook maintenance

2. Management Accounts
a. To prepare timely accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis
b. To ensure all invoices for period accounted for
c. Review the monthly rental invoices/receipts imported to the system for completeness & liaise with the Property Dept on any discrepancies
d. Take on the sole responsibility of preparing the monthly management accounts for all property companies including notes on variance analysis
e. Prepare quarterly summary information for inclusion in the board pack

3. Other duties
a. To raise recharges accordingly
b. Maintain contra and recharge accounts
c. Prepare monthly/quarterly Vat returns
d. Prepare annual working papers for audit inspection
e. Assist in the annual budgeting process
f. Any other general bookkeeping

Knowledge and skills required:

Computerised bookkeeping experience

Microsoft Office – advanced Excel user

Previous VAT experience desirable

Ability to work to deadlines and manage own workload

Team player

Other Useful Experience:

Use of Great Plains accounting system
-
Use of Xero accounting system
Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 08:30am to 17:00pm with a one hour break for lunch
​
Salary - £28000 - £32000 depending on experience
